      The purpose of this textbook is to provide resourses about teaching low brass instruments to music educators and future music educators. The book was developed by the author as part of the open/alternative textbook initiative at Kansas State University. It Is the textbook used for the Kansas State University course Music Low Brass Techniques and Materials. A guide for aspiring professionals covers such topics as Auditions, intonation, ensemble, nerves, coping with conductors, a survival guide to the profession, alternative careers and much more.     The instrument repair program is a nine-month, two-semester program. During the second semester, half the students spend eight weeks working with brass instruments and the other half spend eight weeks working with woodwinds. At the midpoint of the semester, they switch instructors to learn about the other instruments. The purpose of Brass Methods is two-fold: first, to develop the practical skills needed to perform at a beginning to intermediate level on each of the 5 standard brass instruments (trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba), and second, to learn about and practice teaching these skills.
